To RPC’s clients and friends
We thank our clients for the opportunity to assist them on 189 new personal injury cases in 2019, more than in any prior year. This does not count the many other cases opened in previous years on which we provided reports or testimony in 2019. We saw growth in work for both plaintiffs and defendants. While we had 96 new law firms as clients, most new cases came from existing clients. We experienced an increase in the number of cases requiring lifecare plans, vocational evaluations, and loss of earning capacity studies. The greatest growth was in the number of cases in which we prepared Section 18.001 counter-affidavits on reasonableness of charges and on medical necessity. RPC provided comprehensive damages analysis in personal injury cases. Here are some of RPC’s notable accomplishments in 2019:
- While most of our personal injury cases were in Texas, we also assisted counsel with personal injury cases in Nevada and Georgia.
- Besides motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, and property-related injuries, we assisted on cases involving medical malpractice and wrongful termination. One wrongful termination case was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
- Ron Luke, PhD, Brian Piper, PhD, and Chris Elliot, an attorney with Graves Dougherty Herron and Moody, presented the CLE webcast, “Section 18.001 Affidavits & Counter Affidavits” for the State Bar of Texas.
- Our consulting staff expanded in number and expertise:
- Nurse consultants Julie Pennell, RN, and Vicki Vosburg, RN, BSN, LNC, joined RPC.
- Vocational consultant Hiral Patel, MHS, CRC joined RPC.
- Athenna Dill, CPC-A became a certified coder.
- We welcomed physicians in physiatry, orthopedic surgery, and pain management as new consulting associates to provide the medical opinions on which our reports rely.
My colleagues and I will continue to work to ensure RPC delivers reports that are relevant, accurate, reliable, and timely. We thank our clients for the opportunity to assist and we will do our best to justify your continuing confidence.
Sincerely,
Ron Luke, JD, PhD
