RPC prepares reports for adjusters to use in setting reserves and in negotiating settlements. State and federal courts have accepted our consultants as experts in their fields, in the event a claim goes to litigation.
- Medical Summaries: Our legal nurse consultants organize medical records and prepare summaries the adjuster can sort by provider or date of service. Our format allows new records to be added efficiently. We identify missing medical records, workers’ compensation, and Social Security claim files.
- Reasonable Value of Past Medical Expenses:
- Our economists, and certified coders analyze reasonableness of charges by; Identifying billing and coding irregularities, use federal and state data to determine usual, customary, and reasonable charges, and apply government fee schedules and data on negotiated rates to determine reasonable payment.
- Our economists can calculate reasonable value for 18.001 counter affidavits and as a basis for negotiation of medical necessity.
- RPC’s consulting physicians can review medical records to determine whether any treatment received for the alleged injuries was reasonable, necessary, and consistent with recognized, published treatment guidelines. They can also determine whether comorbid conditions contributed to the plaintiff’s complaints or findings on diagnostic testing.
- Reasonable Value of Future Medical Expenses:
- Our certified life care planners and consulting physicians analyze plaintiff life care plans to separate reasonable from unreasonable recommendations and costs due to a claimed injury. We can arrange home visits, IMEs, and neuropsychological examinations. The work product can be an Excel workbook to reduce adjusting costs or a full report.
- Our economists can calculate the reasonable value of future medical expenses [reasonable current value and reasonable discount rate for present value]
- Loss Of Earnings and Earning Capacity: Our vocational consultants and economists analyze plaintiff loss of earning claims to find unreasonable and unsupported assumptions, and to identify missing documents or other inconsistencies. We can administer vocational tests and identify alternate jobs to mitigate damages if the plaintiff cannot return to his or her pre-event job. As above, clients may request a full report or an Excel workbook to reduce adjusting costs.
- Loss of Support in Wrongful Death Cases: Our economic consultants calculate support for survivors in wrongful deaths. To calculate these losses, they gather available personal information, current government statistics and research, and income and benefit trends in relevant jobs.
