Additional Information

Michael Scullin is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Vocational Evaluator, and Certified Life Care Planner with RPC. Mr. Scullin provides expert testimony, reports, and independent recommendations in personal injury, employment, and workers’ compensation litigation in both plaintiff and defense cases.

As a vocational evaluator, he assesses pre-injury and post-injury employability through vocational testing, transferable skills analysis, job requirements analysis, rehabilitation plans, and evaluation of reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. He provides opinions on employability, earning capacity, and vocational rehabilitation potential.

As a life care planner, Mr. Scullin develops and critiques life care plans, analyzing medical, vocational, and rehabilitation records. He collaborates with treating and consulting physicians, as well as other clinicians, to determine the medically necessary services with reasonable medical certainty. He also critiques the methodology of other life care planners. RPC’s economists then calculate the discounted present value of those services.

Based in Louisiana, Mr. Scullin applies his knowledge of both substantive and procedural Louisiana law in preparing expert reports and testimony on personal injury damages. He has extensive experience with claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act, and has been accepted as an expert witness in multiple jurisdictions throughout the country, including Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, California, New Mexico, Nevada, and South Carolina, amongst others.

Mr. Scullin is an active member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals and frequently attends national and Louisiana-based conferences on vocational rehabilitation, life care planning, and workers’ compensation.
